Street Dreams

On April 22nd, I met a couple on the side of the road who were collecting money to pay for a hotel room for the night. They weren’t opposed to working—in fact, they wanted to—but most jobs pay biweekly, and they needed daily income just to afford shelter.

While raising money for their short-term needs, they also shared a bigger vision. They’ve been saving toward purchasing a foreclosed motel on the beach in Florida. Once the funds come through—primarily from expected back taxes—they plan to renovate the property and turn it into a space that offers both shelter and employment for others experiencing homelessness.

Their goal is to provide jobs and housing for people living on the streets, giving them a stable income and a fresh start. It was a powerful reminder that even those in need often carry big dreams—not just for themselves, but for others too.
