Love in Action

One afternoon, as I was leaving the park, I saw a woman bundled up in a giant jacket, trying to stay warm. I remembered I had a small Bible in my car and felt the Lord stirring in my spirit that she needed to hear the truth of the Gospel. I stopped and asked her how I could help. She told me she wanted some cigarettes. I gently offered to get her some food and water instead, and she agreed.
I drove to the store down the street, picked up a few things, and returned with the food, water, and the Bible. I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with her and pray over her. Before I left, she asked if I could help her get out of the cold. I told her absolutely—and I was able to get her a hotel room for the night.
Even though it may seem like just physical needs are being met, I believe the way we love and care for people speaks powerfully about who God is and how He loves them. You never know how being the hands and feet of Jesus might truly impact someone’s life. As Christians, we should be the most helpful, the most generous, and the most loving to those around us.
