HUNGRY: Anything Helps

Thursday, March 6th, I met a man named Justin who was standing on the corner holding a sign stating, “HUNGRY: Anything Helps.” I asked him if he wanted Chick-Fil-A, which is where he was standing and I sat down and got breakfast with him. I asked him his name and his story. He said he came up from Florida with some “friends.” When Justin went into a store, they threw his bag out and left him. He has been living on the streets for a couple weeks and just recently got jumped and beat up. He has tattoos all over and has two black eyes. All he wanted to do was get back home. Previously that morning I spoke about how Jesus is the Bread of Life and I got to tell him that those who come to Jesus will hunger no more. I got to share the gospel with him and pay for a ticket on a greyhound bus back home. I stopped by the church to print off his ticket because his phone didn’t work and I got him a bible when I was there. I then proceeded to take him to the Atlanta Greyhound station. We had some great conversations on the way there and I found out that he loves to cook and used to cook at a seafood restaurant. He told me a story where he got jumped once and stabbed and had to be rushed to the hospital for surgery. Showed me the scars and everything. My life would never be like his, yet we are still the same. Humans created by the same maker who are sinful and in need of Jesus Christ our savior! He was able to call him mom on my phone and tell her he was coming home. They both had an emotional moment as some random stranger took this much interest in someone who society deems has no value. people passed by all morning, and yet I had the OPPORTUNITY to grab a meal and share the gospel with Justin. I continue to pray for Justin and his family and pray that the seeds I planted can grow and blossom into a tree of faith that bears much fruit on this side of Heaven.
