A Kid With A Passion

In 2015, when I was a junior in high school, I believe the Lord placed a deep desire on my heart to help those in need—especially people walking through a season where they couldn’t help themselves.

One afternoon as I was driving home from school, I passed a man walking along the side of the road with a large trash bag slung over his shoulder. At first, I kept driving. But I felt a stirring in my spirit—a clear prompting from God to turn around. I didn’t know what I could do or how I could help, but I chose to obey.

I pulled over, offered him a ride, and placed his bag in my trunk. As we drove, he shared that he had walked all the way from Alabama. He had been living with a few friends, but after they jumped him, beat him, and took his belongings, he grabbed what he could, stuffed it into a trash bag, and left.

As he spoke, I was amazed by his story. I began to share the Gospel with him, but to my surprise, he started quoting Scripture from memory and teaching me as well. In that moment, I realized something that changed my life: the people society often overlooks are still fully made in the image of God. They have value, purpose, and a calling—just like the rest of us.

When I asked where he was headed, he told me he was trying to reach the East Coast. As a 16-year-old in Conyers, GA, I knew I couldn’t get him that far—but I offered to take him a little further and grab dinner. We stopped at a small local diner, talked more about life, faith, and his journey, and then eventually parted ways.

That encounter stirred something in me that I couldn’t ignore. It was the seed God planted in my heart that eventually became Hands&Feet Co.—a way for me to continue ministering to people in their lowest seasons, reminding them of their worth, and helping meet their physical and spiritual needs.
